A total of 10.1 million gallons of oil leaked from the Supertanker Exxon Valdez after it struck a well-marked reef. Crisis Embroils Navajo Nation According to recent US Senate testimony the chief ex- ecutive officer of the Navaho Indian Reservation, America's largest, has defrauded the Indians of some seven million dollars. Peter McDonald, known to his tribal foes as "MacDollar" is in his fourth term and has previously been indicted for fraud. This trial ended in a hung jury, ten for conviction, two for acquittal. Forty nine of the eighty eight member tribal council have voted to remove MacDonald as Chairman, but the Chairman says the council lacks the authority to fire him. Arsenic and Old Lace II? Dorothea Montalvo Puente, Sacramento, Ca., was charged with the additional counts Friday, bringing the number of elderly or disabled persons the woman is ac- cused of murdering in order to get their Social Security checks to 16. She pleaded innocent. Gasoline Prices Rocket The massive Alaskan oil spill, tight supplies and seasonal price boosts have combined to drive up the retail price of gasoline from three to eleven cents a gallon.
